A common error when user try to repair or update of the SOLIDWORKS application is a failure of the Installation manager to locate the source files.
The error message shown below pop-up and user get to save the log files to Support or just click ok.
To resolve this you need to find the original installation source files for the currently installed version and service pack. Most of the time user can’t remember where the original file location and what method (DVD, usb drive or network drive) they used for the last installation or update.
However, users can find the original file location within the SOLIDWORKS installation manager. Go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features and find SOLIDWORKS installation and click on “Change”
This would bring up the SOLIDWORKS installation manager. Select Modify the individual installation.
Go to the Summary page and click on the Change button associate to the Download Options.
It will display the information as seen below, where the user can browse to the directory listed to see if the files are present, in this example “D:\01_SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2016 x64 SP03 “. If the files are not present in the location specified you have two options
– locate the installation files and resolve the discrepancy between the location specified and the actual location, or download the installation files.
The missing source files can be downloaded through the installation manager, from the same location by selecting the middle radio button to “Download only”, and making sub-selections for a smaller or larger download.
