Get More From Your SOLIDWORKS Electrical Reports
SOLIDWORKS Electrical comes with a big pile of reports which all have quite a lot of information in them by default. However, often you will come across a report where you just need a little bit more. You may have looked into the ‘Expert Mode’ of the report configuration window and thought…”this looks too difficult“. However I’m going to show you some easy steps to make this a little less daunting and help you get more information out of your reports.
To get started, go to Project > Configurations Dropdown > Report

Find the report you wish to modify and DUPLICATE it. (So if you make any mistakes you still have the default one to use!)
Edit the properties of this duplicated report > tick ‘Activate Expert Mode’ > hit yes on the dialog asking you if you are sure.
On the left hand side is the query that is run when this report is called up. You can click the ‘edit’ button to make changes to it. From there simply double click the desired fields in the right hand side to make a change. Once finished hit ‘test’ to see if it will work. If not, try deleting the attribute you added to the report and test again until it works ok. Some attributes cannot be added to some types of reports. There are too many to list here so please try it out and see what works for you.
Once finished, hit apply and close the report configuration editor. Your new report is ready to be run!
