In the study properties of any static study there are 5 different solvers. This blog provides information about these solves and gives guidelines on how to choose the best solver for your static study.
SOLIDWORKS Simulation uses finite element analysis where every study is represented by a set of algebraic equations that must be solved simultaneously. There are two different methods to solve these equations, direct and iterative.
SOLIDWORKS Simulation offers five possible solver options, three direct and one iterative. To change the solver selection for a particular study, right-click on the study name in the Simulation Study Tree and click on ‘Properties’.
While all solvers are efficient for small problems of 25,000 DOFs or less, there can be big differences in performance (speed and memory) in solving large problems.
The table below provides some comparative information to assist you in choosing the best solver for your static study.
